What's Going On? January 2013

Jesus Welcomes Us Into a New Year of Service and Love

We are called to be fishers of men.

                   Your ongoing support and encouragement
in 2013 are essential to this outreach.

Exciting plans for 2013 include:

* A new website is being developed to further our ability to syndicate our radio and
television programs through the Internet broadcasting networks and
hand held devices. We will launch an initiative to offer our radio and
television programs to local churches to rebroadcast on their local station,
websites, or Internet radio station with their own local information. This will
be done through our new website. Increase our involvement with our listeners and
follow-up teams in Cuba.
* Also, have an active role in the Cuba Youth Conference to be held in
Matanzas, Cuba in July.
* Continue to increase radio production that will help us grow our radio
presence into a daily radio hour in Spanish and daily hour in Portuguese.
* Continue the training of talent for radio and television production.
* Launch our daily hour radio broadcast from Madagascar with World Christian
Broadcasting. Our prayer is that the station will be ready soon.
* Continue broadcasting Con La Biblia Abierta TV program on Dish Network:
Almavision reaching all 50 of the United States Mondays 9:00 PM EST. Viva Vida
TV Production Schedule for development, pilot, and production plans –Luis
Estrada: Producer and Host
* Continue broadcasting La Voz Alegre radio hour on: Trans World Radio’s 800
AM station reaching Cuba, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rica Sundays 9:00-10:00
* WINB shortwave is reaching all of Latin America, Monday night at 6:00-7:00
PM EST Streaming On-line: www.winb.com
* WWCR shortwave is reaching Cuba and Latin America from Nashville, TN,

Our Goal:

* To share our hope and faith in Christ with everyone God puts in our lives,
listens to the radio, gets on the internet, or watches TV.

What's Going On? December 2012

FROM REX MORGAN
Reaching out to the Latin American World
We are so glad that you care about us!
From Barahona, Dominican Republic and across the Caribbean to Cuba.

Every Sunday night La Voz Alegre radio program shares the gospel of Jesus with people, and they are listening and responding.

"Pura Vida", the Good Life, was the theme of November's Gospel meeting in Barahona, Dominican Republic. The area had just been ravaged by the wind and flood waters of Hurricane Sandy which destroyed many of the bridges and the banana fields that so many count on for their livelihood. Many of the people were getting sick from dengue and other illnesses due to the storm and the havoc that it caused making conditions unsanitary.  Our 3-hour trip, via public bus, from Santo Domingo to Barahona took 8 hours due to a bridge being repaired in Azua.

In spite of theses difficulties, over 200 people showed up nightly to hear the gospel preached.  Everyone was encouraged to put their focus on Christ and his promises for their spiritual and family lives.  It was a joy to see many people restore their lives and their families back to Jesus.

The Lord opened the way to Barahona and the preaching of His message at a congregation where Santos Feliz Ruiz serves as evangelist. Santos is one of our radio program contributors.  His program is Vida en Perspectiva (Life In Perspective), a mental health radio message that is part of the La Voz Alegre (The Happy Voice) hour heard weekly in the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and Puerto Rico.

The campaign was followed by a wonderful worship service in Santo Domingo where more than 2,000 Dominican members of the churches of Christ gathered with visitors from the USA that were there to attend the Pan American Lectureship. This gathering gave us the opportunity to meet and greet, but also, to pass out
pens with information on how to tune-in to the radio hour each Sunday night. Many were encouraged and said that they would be tuning in and would invite others.

One of the purposes of our travel to the Dominican Republic was to encourage the Christians to promote the radio hour and to establish more effective follow-up.

Results of Christian Partnering at the Pan Am Lectureship in Santo Domingo:
On Sunday evening we were able to meet with the leaders of the church in Santo Domingo and discussed, with success, a cohesive follow-up strategy which will begin immediately.

It was a time of great synergy, fellowship, and expressions of appreciation for the roles that all play in reaching the lost.

Also with us in the meeting were representatives from World Bible School, Kristi Bond and Jonathan Towell, who partner with us in our follow-up efforts.

Radio production and broadcasting:

Franklin and Sorabel Gomez are innovative Christians.  Franklin is the IT Manager for Seaboard Marine, but his first passion is being an evangelist that has taken his IT knowledge and put it to work for the Lord. Franklin and Sorabel have a recording studio in their  home and broadcast 24 hours a day on their Internet radio station:]www.radioevangelistica.org. He will be a contributing speaker in our radio hour and will help us with some of our radio production in Santo Domingo.

Franklin also took me to Radio Ven and affiliate of Trans World Radio with hopes that we may also broadcast our radio hour with them.

Meeting at Radio Ven
We are also developing future partnerships:
A great meeting with Nathan and Yirenni Paden resulted in a possible partnership in broadcasting.  They have had a great deal of experience in broadcasting in the Dominican Republic and are ready to help us reach their nation.

Joel Sanchez, a native of the Dominican Republic, now preaching for the Skillman church of Christ in Dallas, Tx will be writing and recording radio messages that will help our listeners understand the hope that Jesus brings to them.

Looking for help?
Jesus cares for us by giving us living water.

What's Going On? November 2012

FROM REX MORGAN
Reaching out to the Latin American World

Dear Friends:
People flip, scan or surf the radio channels in hope of finding something that will improve their lives.  In Cuba it is much more challenging for people seeking a better life, since the free flow of information is limited by the restrictions of the government.  However, during this past year God has opened a door for many in Cuba who sincerely seek to know God.

For the past 12 months we have been able to broadcast our radio hour La Voz Alegre (The Happy Voice) on Trans World Radio.  The program is heard across the nations of Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic on an AM frequency every Sunday night from 9:00 to 10:00.  It is exciting to report that people have been enthusiastically responding to the program’s message!  After traveling to Cuba, twice this past summer, we have learned that listener clubs have been established across the country to tune-in to this program.  Each month we receive over 100 letters at the P.O. Box in Matanzas, Cuba requesting the free Bible course that we offer.

God always has plans for people to receive hope and a future, Jeremiah 29:11. While visiting Cuba I was able to meet many young people that attended a National Youth Conference.  I found these Christian young people had joy in their lives, and that hope was reflected in their eyes.  This was in deep contrast to many of the other young people that we met on the streets and cafes in Cuba.  My wife observed, “Look at the eyes of the young people that we meet on the streets, though they are young their eyes seem very old and sad.”  The contrast between those who have received hope through Jesus and those who have not is very evident.  This should motivate us to help them.

Your sponsorship is needed to continue this weekly radio messages to the listeners in Cuba, and the rest of the Caribbean.  The cost this year will be $402.00 per week.  Our listeners receive a mix of encouraging Bible messages, health tips, educational spots, and popular and spiritual music.  This format mix has attracted non-believers and it has encouraged many Christians too.  Feel confident in knowing that when people contact us their needs are personally cared for, whether the needs are spiritual or physical, by a well-equipped team in Cuba.

Will you partner with us? Please give me a call.  I would love to share with you the possibilities that are now open to us in Cuba and around the Caribbean.

Sincerely,
Rex Morgan
Sr. Producer for Latin America

The Dominican Republic:
Up Coming Evangelistic Campaign in the Dominican Republic with La Voz Alegre on the air each week in the Dominican Republic, we have been invited to go there and encourage those who are partnering with us in our broadcasts.

Santos Feliz Ruiz, host of our radio message Vida en Perspectiva (Life in
Perspective) is an evangelist and mental health specialist.

He has invited Rex Morgan to preach an evangelistic campaign in Barahona,
Dominican Republic in November. While there, follow-up will also be done to encourage the promotion and development of the radio program and search for more radio talent from members of the church.

Following the evangelistic campaign the Pan American Lectureship will be held in the city of Santo Domingo. While there we will have the opportunity to visit with Franklin Gomez, a youthful member of the church who has started a radio station in Santo Domingo.  Franklin attended one of Christian Production's radio training seminars last year in South Florida.

Jesus said, "Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some." When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.
John 21:6

Our dream is to make the saving message of Jesus available to all who seek Him. We are working to accomplish this through the use of the media and partnerships with local churches of Christ and their ministries.
