What's Going On? June 2015

WONDERFUL NEWS!
Traveling to the mission field involves a lot of prayer, planning, and shipping those basic necessities that will help the missionary live and share the message of Jesus in a foreign land.

I remember arriving with Brenda and our two young children to Papua New Guinea, PNG, in December of 1977.  Although we had arrived, it would be months later before our belongings would arrive.  Our earthly “essentials” had been very carefully packed into one small wooden crate and four 55-gallon metal drums, that were welded shut. We waited with great anticipation for their arrival.  Across the Pacific Ocean they floated from exotic port to port.

The day finally arrived, our ship had come in.  We were like children on Christmas morning opening the crate and barrels; we felt like a piece of home had followed us to the mission field.

We are now filled with that same excitement!  World Christian Broadcasting shipped their shortwave technical “essentials” across the Atlantic Ocean, the transmitters arrived, and are now being installed.

The Morgans 1977: missionaries to Papua New Guinea
The final pieces of this enormous
technology/broadcasting puzzle, the transmitters, were loaded on a ship in Houston that sailed and have now arrived at their destination.  Each of the two transmitters was packed in shipping containers the size of a semi trailer.  This is a much larger load than my shipping crates and barrels sent to PNG in 1977, but the anticipation of their arrival has been just as great.

Once the transmitters are installed and tested we will be part of sending the Gospel, via this new station, to: Latin America, the Arab world, Africa, India, and Europe.  This station's capabilities plus the current KNLS in Alaska to China, Russia, and the Pacific Rim countries will create a new connection for the world.  For the very first time, the Gospel will be made available to the entire world through this broadcasting signal.  This will give every individual on our planet access to the hope through Jesus Christ.

This is marvelous!  For me, this is a complete turnaround in media outreach from my former 1977 Papua New Guinea experience, one government radio station and no television.  Rather than spending two and a half days to walk to a remote village to share Jesus, God has gifted us with the capability to use media to span the globe with His message.  It is amazing how God's plans come together!

Kenosis: Cumbre Internacional de las Iglesias de Cristo
International Summit of the Church of Christ

What I saw: Singing, Encouraging, Teaching, Praying and Sharing ideas about the challenges Youth Ministers face serving in Central America
Alejandro Ezquerra, Rex Morgan, Carlos Cabajal

Carlos Cabajal gathered ministers, college professors, youth ministers from 10 Latin-American countries, and singing groups in Tegucigalpa, Honduras for three days of revival. Topics from spiritual equiping, using technology in Ministry, to avoiding pornography and infidelity held the crowd's attention and convicted their hearts.

The focus? Kenosis, the 'self-emptying' of one's own will and becoming entirely receptive to God's divine will. The word ἐκένωσεν (ekénōsen) is used in Philippians 2:7, "[Jesus] made himself nothing ...

"I experience kenosis when I think of how much Christ did for me. His divine love excites me to back away from myself and learn from Christ's own example of giving it up, allowing God to use Him."

Many responded with renewed commitment and creative ideas for sharing Christ in their communities.

Our Journey: Let's all think about commiting ourselves to our own personal kenosis, sharing Christ in a purer state of mind and attitude. Jesus impacts those who empty themselves and are open to God's love and sacrifice. In this video listen to testimony why Jesus excites these individuals and makes a difference in their lives.

May God bless each of us on this journey.

True Love... How do you find it?
Next Generation Partners: Noilys, Odelys, Yulien, Amanda, Cesar, and Janiel are names that may never be famous but their audio messages may have an opportunity to change lives.  A new radio program Los Jóvenes de Bellavista, The Youth of Bellavista is in the works.  Their messages are real and personal: Ideal Love, Salvation, Overcoming Addiction, Come to Jesus, and much more.

Young Cubans to other young Cuban listeners. That is what makes this program unique. The segments are written and presented by these young people to our radio listeners.

There are so many challenges that young people face today in every society around the world.  Sometimes a peer sharing their knowledge and wisdom from God’s Word can make all the difference in another young person’s life.  May God bless this new generation of partners as they share the Gospel.

Be sure to look for this new program soon at:lavozalegre.com or thehappyvoice.org

Back in Cuba!

Evangelize Those Who Are Around You!

That was my first topic for the National Preachers Conference in Cuba last month. 1st Timothy was the theme and as our team of presenters taught, application was made in light of the possible new challenges that are on the horizon for Cuba.  There was active participation in discussions, learning, and worship by all 200 plus who attended from 16 different provinces.

People Are Listening
Keisha, her family, and thousands of others are letting us know how much our Sunday night radio program is helping their lives. The free gospel of Christ is feeding their souls and lifting up their hearts.

Alain Fuertes from Villa Clara wrote to us saying,
My family and I listen every week to your radio program. I would like to receive a Bible study course and any discussions about Christianity that you have.  It is very difficult to receive literature about the Church of Christ in Cuba.  I would appreciate any help you can give me. This idea of restoration is something I would like to be a part of here in Cuba.

We hope you feel the joy too! You are making a difference in the lives of people like Alain listening across Cuba and the Caribbean.

Matthew 25:26
I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of
these brothers of mine, you did for me.

Our dream is to make the saving message of Jesus available to all who seek Him. We are working to accomplish this through the use of the media and partnerships with local churches of Christ and their ministries.
