Praise God! Thousands gather in Barahona, Dominican Republic

Within the range of our listening audience in Barahona, Dominican Republic, a historical event took place, the 26th Annual National Brotherly Fellowship Conference. Around 5,000 people who were full of enthusiasm and brotherly love attended the annual conference.

Just a few months ago in Barahona, Santo Feliz Ruiz walked us into this empty arena and said with faith-filled eyes, “Pray that in February we will be able to fill this place up with people, and may the glory go to God."  Praise God for answered prayers!

This particular event also marks the 50th anniversary of the churches of Christ in the Dominican Republic.

Producing radio programs that will reach people where they live is an ongoing education. 
The 2013 National Religious Broadcasters, NRB, Convention in Nashville confirmed our belief that the most important thing to focus on is the quality of our content.

Then, how our content is delivered depends on the needs of our target audience:

- Radio

- Television

- Internet using computers, tablet, phones

Making our content (radio programs) available through the Internet, via our websites, now gives people the opportunity to hear and respond to the programs via their computers or smart phones.

​While preaching in Barahona, Dominican Republic last November I was amazed to learn that many people, who have never owned a computer, are now accessing the Internet for the first time using a smart phone.

This phenomenon was confirmed at the NRB convention for people and societies in many countries of the world. Skip the computer and begin using the Internet on a smart phone. With this information in mind we are developing our website to effectively

work on many platforms: the smart phone, tablets, and computers.

Pray for these initiatives to help us reach even more souls for Jesus.

Have you ever wondered,
"Who is listening?

Producing radio and television programs and broadcasting sounds great. But, what makes it a wonderful experience is knowing that someone is listening.

We received emails this year from as far away as France and Spain. Some with attachments of recordings of our radio broadcasts La Voz Alegre (The Happy Voice), people want us to know that they are listening.

While on the phone this month, with our partners in Cuba, I was told that the listening audience continues to grow.  The letters that pour in, to the P.O. Box in Cuba, every week now contain the names and addresses of up to 10 people, in a single letter! Many are requesting the World Bible School course that is offered on the air.  An average of over 100 letters a month are placed into the hands of local evangelists and teachers to follow-up the requests. Praise God!

Listeners also continue to respond to the television broadcast, requesting prayers and Bible study each week.

People are also watching and listening to Con La Biblia Abierta (With The Open Bible) using the DVD version of the programs in their homes and congregations.

That's how we met Elizabeth.

“I’ve see you in the television program Con La Biblia Abierta.  You were younger, but I think it was you." Elizabeth shared with Luis Estrada.

“In my congregation I was able to study the Bible by watching the DVD of Con La Biblia Abierta. I learned, from brother Efrain Valverde, that I needed to be baptized.  So, following my study I was baptized into Christ."

Everyday someone is listening!  We may not know for sure who, when, or where until they respond, but they are listening.

It may be by radio, television, DVD, CD, computer, or smartphone.  Remember, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

How can I share Christ with my family and friends?

DVDs and Cd's are shared with churches and individuals.

A new year and a new life in Christ

This is the hope we share as the message of Christ is broadcast across the United States and the Caribbean each week.

A new beginning:

Knowing that “God gives the increase” makes all of our efforts full of promise. We work together as partners to broadcast God’s message into as many homes as possible.  Broadcasting on Radio, Television, and the Internet, in our modern times, gives so many people access to God’s grace.  Did you know that 16 out of every 100 people in the world do not identify with any existing religion in the world?  We are full of promise as we work everyday to broadcast His message to everyone possible.

Last month Franklin Gomez was featured as one of our radio partners in the Dominican Republic.  This month he announced that he would begin producing and broadcasting a new program called His Word is Truth on an AM signal every Monday morning at 7:00 in Santo Domingo.

We are encouraging each other through the sharing of materials and radio programming. Soon, we will be including these broadcasts as part of our La Voz Alegre radio hour in the future.  Franklin also broadcasts 24/7 on his Internet Radio station www.radioevangelistica.org.  La Voz Alegre will be rebroadcast on this station very soon. Praying for one another and sharing our content and programs encourages us as servants of God to do our very best to reach those who are searching for hope.

Another radio opportunity that encouraged us this month:

Early one morning in January, we received a text saying, “Tune in to WAPN Radio at 11:00 AM, and listen to my husband." This text was from our daughter-in-law, Amber Morgan.  The radio station owner interviewed Lance concerning faith issues and the new Church of Christ ministry in Port Orange, Florida where Lance is working.  Listeners were encouraged as Lance talked about dealing with life’s real challenges and being empowered by faith in Jesus.  Welcome to Radio, Lance! Praying for you!

Encouraging one another is a very important theme of the Bible.  When we see this biblical principle put into action in relation to fulfilling the great commission it is exciting.
