A church is born! Sitiecito, Cuba

Listeners gather around their radios every Sunday night to listen to La Voz Alegre (The Happy Voice) all across Cuba. God knows who is listening and learning about freedom in Christ, and God cares.

Then letters arrive at the P.O. Box for the church of Christ in Havana. Not quite a birth announcement but it is a wonderful new beginning. The word of God has taken hold in the hearts of people and they ask for help to study God's word. Our follow-up team in Cuba goes into action with: love, letters, lessons, and visits.

Roberto Pino of Havana, Cuba writes:

I'm sharing a message of the journey to Sitiecito, a small town that is more than 300 Km from Havana, and where we have listeners of the program, La Voz Alegre. Several of them were also recently baptized.

They have been in contact with Tony Hernandez, and during a trip they made to Matanzas they were baptized. Now they are continuing to study with us and want to start to meeting as a church.

During our visit with our new brothers and sisters in Sitiecito we were able to instruct them on how to get started. To the glory of God, there is now a new congregation in the province of Villa Clara, Cuba. And this, thanks also, to the work we are doing together.

Benny and Donna Baker with Mision Paraiso, in Nicaragua, are partnering with World Bible School (WBS) to have 20,000 WBS introduction lessons printed.  The lessons will also include the above website advertisement. People will be able to study the Bible lesson and also access all the Bible content on our website. Next year, Mision Paraiso will have 10,000 Bibles printed with the WBS introduction and the above advertisement inserted.

Also, short-term mission teams will have a new evangelistic tool! The, above featured, business-sized card will be given to the teams to share the gospel with the people they meet while serving in Nicaragua.

Thank God for Luisito!

"Can you help us get a wheelchair for a friend in our neighborhood?" 

This was a request we received back in May of this year from the youth group in Bellavista, Cuba.

Luisito, a paraplegic, lives in the neighborhood near where the church meets.  The young people met him and learned that he desperately needed help.

They asked him if he went to church and found out that he used to go, but that church had just forgotten about him. Confined to his home Luisito did not qualify yet for a new government issued wheelchair.  But, for only $65.00, the church was able to locate a wheelchair to suit his needs.

It is such a joy to share this story of love with you.  From the beginning, receiving the first request and photos of Luisito in May, to September, receiving the beautiful news of Luisito putting on Christ in baptism.  Let's rejoice that God has allowed us to join hands in ministering to Luisito and many others just like him.  People seeking help, finding Jesus living in our lives, and then accepting Christ as their Savior too.
